We have long championed ethical production, which is why we’re proud to be the first Australian retail group to partner with Retraced, a groundbreaking digital platform that's revolutionising the fashion industry by offering full supply chain transparency.
Retraced shows brands, suppliers and customers the transparent journey of their garments from raw materials to finished product. Through our partnership with Retraced, our aim is to make ethical and environmentally responsible practices significantly more visible, so we can help play a pivotal role in reshaping the future of the fashion industry.
The obstacle to an ethical supply chain has long been lack of transparency. Fashion supply chains are complex, intricate systems that cannot be understood in a linear way. Retraced connects the dots, mapping a product’s supply chain as a series of networks and stakeholders with the aim of visibility, accountability and true collaboration. Suppliers and brands alike see the same data, encouraging improvement across the board.
Philipp Mayer, co-founder of Retraced, welcomes the partnership, saying, “There is no due diligence without transparency. Transparency means having visibility of processes, practices and conditions along the supply chain, and the openness of stakeholders to share this information. Traceability plays a crucial role in achieving transparency, as it is the foundation for collecting additional information surrounding human rights, assessing associated risks and implementing corrective and preventive actions.”
As early adopters of 3D design and visualisation tools, here at Sportscraft, we have been working to reduce our production waste and emissions. By introducing digital tracebility, we have the opportunity to accelerate this through shared supply chain visibility.
Sportscraft General Manager, Haylie Sullivan says, “Sportscraft has been one of Australia’s most trusted fashion and lifestyle brands since 1914. We are proud to extend that trust through this partnership as one of the early adopters to more sustainable methods. With an assurance of not only quality but of transparency, this partnership will allow Sportscraft customers to shop with confidence, empowered with the knowledge that they are supporting ethical practices.”
Our customers are increasingly concerned about the origins of their products, and this partnership will allow Sportscraft to put data behind a public commitment to responsible practices. Our garment manufacturers and mill partners are all onboarded onto the platform, and we look forward to offering fully traceable products to our customers.
